Progressive Agriculture Safety Day is now a tradition in Cairo, Nebraska. This program over the last four years has provided critical safety training to children in ten communities. On average 110 children attended this event annually. Children have received safety training to be safe around pto shafts, farm equipment, atvs, law mowers, severe weather, insects, animals, electricity, guns and more.
Children attend safety day and go home with a safety tools, that in the past, have included bicycle helmets, fire extinguishers, life jackets and flashlights.
The day is operated by volunteers and volunteer trainers from companies such as Titan Machinery, Pathway Bank, Farm Credit Services, Greenline, State Patrol and Southern Power to name a few.
The program is funded though a fund at the Cairo Community Foundation. This fund is supported by generous donors and grants from companies like Cargill.
Farm Credit Services is also a strong financial supporter of Progressive Farm Safety Day. Farm Credit Services recently made a $1,000 grant to the Safety Day fund to continue the mission to keep children safe through education.
